Russian tenor Arseny Yakovlev was born in Moscow to a family of musicians. He first enrolled at the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory and then continued his vocal studies at the Academy of Choral Arts under Professor Dmitry Vdovin. Yakovlev is currently studying with Vdovin at the Russian University of Theatrical Arts (GITIS). In 2012, at the age of 19, Yakovlev made his debut at the Bolshoi as a Vendor of Pets in Richard Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier. In September of 2013, he joined the Young Artist Program of the Bolshoi Theatre and has since performed the roles of Parpignol in La Boheme, Royal Herald in Don Carlo, Raymond in The Maid of Orleans, the First Troll in Banevich’s The Story of Kai and Gerda, and Matteo Borsa in Rigoletto. Yakovlev has also taken part in many Young Artist Program concerts at the Bolshoi stage, as well as performances in other concert halls.
